Description (physical)

A Siberian Husky lying resting his head on his paws, looking remarkably like a fox. One of a series produced by Sally Leich, which can be painted to match the colouring of the purchaser's husky.

Description (iconographical)

Siberian Huskies are a natural and ancient breed of sled dog, developed _by the Chukchi Indians of Eastern Siberia over many centuries of _co-dependence. These highly social, friendly and intelligent dogs earned their keep by pulling the Chukchis’ sleds swiftly across vast tracts of inhospitable hunting grounds, where speed, stamina and hardiness were crucial for survival. The Leich family first imported a pair of Siberians from the USA in 1969. These proved to be the third pair of this breed in the country. The two dogs, Ilya and Douschka, formed the foundation for Forstal Kennels, one of the most successful breeders of huskies in the country. As the Siberian Husky pack slowly grew, running them in harness began to seem the best way to exercise them. As other people in the UK became interested and the Siberian population grew – so the British Husky working and racing scene was born.
