Inscriptions | This David Kindersley carving was removed from Aldrich's Brush Factory in Factory Lane Roydon and installed here in 1997
Description (physical) |
Large composite relief carving of a heraldic hog on a scrolled mat with coconut palms in the background and the date 1948 inscribed centrally in large lettering
Description (iconographical) |
The relief carving was commissioned on the occasion of an extension to the Brush and Mat Factory carried out by Hughes and Bicknell in 1948. The design is based on Kindersley's interest in heraldic imagery. The prominent features - coconuts and the hog - indicate the raw materials used by the factory for the production of mats and brushes
